The Artist

RoosterIMG_0180 (1).JPG

Growing up in rural Wisconsin, artist Paul Brandt Lippart was surrounded by animals, farms, and the hands-on work of rural life.

Starting at a very young age, Paul helped his veterinarian father on farms and at zoos, developing a lifelong love and understanding of animals that continues to fuel his work today.

A self-taught artist with formal training in fabrication, welding, and painting, Paul’s experience includes custom hot rod and motorcycle fabrication and painting, steel building construction, production welding, millwright work, and animal husbandry. These experiences strongly influence his approach to sculpture, particularly his focus on clean lines, natural flow, and streamlined forms. He carefully conceals his welds and fabrication work, allowing the construction to disappear and the sculpture itself to take center stage.

Paul creates one-of-a-kind animal sculptures from reclaimed and new metal, incorporating materials with a history and a story behind them whenever possible. Each piece is built by hand with an emphasis on craftsmanship, safety, and longevity. Sharp edges are eliminated, structural integrity is carefully considered, and every sculpture is built stronger than it needs to be—designed to be enjoyed for generations.

In 2018, Paul began creating public sculptures for cities and communities. His first two public sculptures were accepted into juried exhibitions, and both received People’s Choice Awards—one in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and the other in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Today, Paul works from his studio in Windsor, Colorado, creating original sculptures, large-scale installations, and custom commissions.
